Chez Bartone comments from visitors.
2005
Mr & Mrs Rigby, Lancs (June): Welcoming wine much appreciated. Lovely cottage & fantastic views. Made for a totally relaxing week. THANKS VERY MUCH.
D Evans & P Osborne, Devon (July): Lovely Chalet, all the facilities. Thanks for use of the bikes. Lovely memories of Brantome, Perigueux, Bergerac. Fireworks of 14 July best ever seen.
Mr & Mrs Holzer, Hants (August): Remoteness, a fabulous relief from life in Hampshire, night time noise of the Cicadas is hypnotic, but otherwise the silence is deafening – so rare in England. We have been treated to shooting stars at night and ever changing skies by day. Rain fell from almost cloudless blue on occasions. Butterflies in the garden included White Admiral, Fritillary, Blue (Common), Wall Brown, Meadow Brown, Brimstone. Many moths at night but Humming-bird Hawk and Laticed Heath plus Tiger some of the more spectacular by day. Redstart, Black-Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Short-toed Eagle, Hoopoe, Peregrine were some of the birdie treats in and around the local area. Compulsory weeding of the veg plot helped with withdrawal symptoms from allotment back home. We found some excellent wine to take home and have had a lovely time. Many Thanks!
Mr & Mrs Rose, Scotland (September): We enjoyed re-visiting old haunts – Montbazillac, Montpazier etc. Lovely quiet location and pleasant neighbours.
2006
Mr & Mrs Hurley, Preston (June): A very restful break. Thank you for sharing your home. The satellite TV is a boon.
“The Dougalls”, Scotland (July): Great garden. Recommend Aubeterre swimming. Gouffre de Proumeyssac was amazing.
Mr & Mrs Blessett, Cambs (August): Lovely Gite. Lovely views, weather mixed. Had a lovely restful holiday. Very quiet.
2007
Palmers, Salford: Thanks for welcome bottle of wine very kind! Gite is in wonderful place – views terrific, lovely little hamlet. Great wildlife – birds, butterflies, bats, moths, lizards. Dronne valley area great to explore and Dordogne not too far away. Lots of good places to eat. Canoeing wonderful, swimming at Lisle excellent. It’s been relaxing and enabled us to revisit old haunts. Garden a beautiful place to be. Quiet at night, often deafening! Stars – when clear – magnificent.
2008
Mr & Mrs Kirby, Penarth: Came to this cottage in July 1986. Lovely place to be now with Sky TV. Hope to come back again but not leave it so long.
Mr & Mrs Blessett, Lincs: 2nd visit and everything great as before. Weather much hotter. Favourite place Aubeterre but Brantome a close second. Very relaxing and not looking forward to going home.
Mr & Mrs Bunce, Essex: Second time at the cottage. We shall return again. Weather good. Beware bats in the cellar, large frogs in the garden BUT we love it.
Mr & Mrs Brothwell, W Sussex: Weather good. Location excellent for a quiet relaxing holiday. The bikes were very useful (but mind the bats). Meals at Hotel de Commerce (Riberac), restaurant opposite church in Tocane and in St Victor excellent. TV useful to keep up to date with the news about the financial crash.

Mr & Mrs Nield, Herts: We have really enjoyed a return visit to this lovely gite with its beautiful views and wildlife. The weather has been brilliant too. |
